USEMP consortium members


The USEMP consortium has been composed in order to include:

  • complementary R&D expertise covering different disciplines related to USEMP objectives: legal studies, user research, information mining and extraction, multimedia indexing and search, information presentation;
  • capabilities in software architecture and integration;
  • expert knowledge and capabilities for providing data and user tests in the case studies;
  • industrial partners for commercial exploitation pathways and academic partners with a track record in scientific dissemination and training;
  • management capabilities to respond to the need of WP and overall project management.

Comissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA)

CEA LIST is a key software systems and technology research centre working in three areas with vital societal and economic implications: embedded systems, interactive systems, signal detection and processing.


iMinds (previously: IBBT) is an independent research institute founded by the Flemish government to stimulate ICT innovation. The institute brings together companies, authorities, and non-profit organisations to join forces on research projects.

Institute of Computing and Information Sciences, Radboud University Nijmegen (iCIS)

iCIS has collaborated in a number of EU research projects and its principal investigators, such as professor Tom Heskes (Machine Learning), professor Bart Jacobs (Digital Security) have received numerous grants and prizes. Since 2011 iCIS hosts the Chair of Smart Environments, Data Protection and the Rule of Law to integrate legal, ethical and social science perspectives in its research agenda.

Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH)

The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) was founded in March 2000. Since 2008, CERTH has been among the first Greek research organisations that have undersigned the principles of the “Charter & Code” and it is the only Greek research organisation acknowledged by the EC as organisation that respects the principles of the C&C.

HW Communications Ltd (HWC)

HWC was founded in 1990 and has traditionally focussed on advanced research and development in mobile and wireless communications, which have been implemented as bespoke solutions for external companies and government agencies.

Luleå  University  of  Technology / Centre for Distance-spanning Technology (LTU-CDT)

The Centre for Distance-spanning Technology (CDT) is a competence centre within Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in Sweden  where industry works closely together with academia. CDT has produced a number of major results since the establishment in 1995. CDT creates and develops knowledge based innovations to new business by creating and managing well integrated Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) projects based on advanced information technology that bridges distances in time and space for IT-oriented companies and entrepreneurs.
